Sigmund

I'm happy to be part of this group and am looking forward to working with other dedicated fst practitioners.  I've been doing FST for the past couple of years and have become calmer, more self assured and more informed, all of which adds greatly as I make my way in the world and with my meditation groups.

I hold credentials in both the professional and alternative worlds.  I began my journey in the late 1960s after stumbling across a UNESCO book called The Teachings of the Compassionate Buddha which gave me an overview of the philosophy and scriptures of the various Buddhist schools.  During 1969, I lived on the banks of the Ganges River in southern Benares, India in a room opening onto a living Shiva courtyard.  Every day, families would come into the yard chanting and worshipping and paying homage to Shiva.  As a result, I'm imprinted with Shiva energy.  I also lived around Darjeeling among Tibetans and visited Bhutan.  From there, I moved on to Thailand for a year becoming a Buddhist monk and living at two Bangkok area monasteries in the Theradava tradition, the tradition of the historical Buddha.   I maintain my Buddhist practices.  In 1979, my meditation partner recognized me as being on the path of the heart and subsequently gave me shaktipat initiations.  We've been studying and practicing extensively ever since.

After leaving the monastery, I returned to the US and completed my studies in education and educational supervision and administration.  I trained in program building and was trained as a trainer with an international educational research foundation whose model is based on the child development theories of Jean Piaget.  For three years, I directed a developmentally oriented day care/pre-school program for non-traditional parents (returning to school) and their children between the ages of newborn and five years, under the auspices of the state department of education.  I implemented my Bhakti, Raja and Gnana yoga training there while providing schooling and care to the children and teaching developmental child care to their parents, school aged siblings and professional and para-professional staff.  The state recognized my program as a training and demonstration site in the Piagetian developmental model.  Since the late '80s, I've been teaching meditation and practicing individual and family counseling and therapy.

I'm looking forward to a fruitful relationship with those who come to drink from this well.
