Can I take a kundalini yoga class if I've had a spontaneous kundalini rising?

Has anyone had a spontaneous kundalini rising and then joined a kundalini yoga class? I had a spontaneous rising that started three years ago. The physical symptoms have subsided for now but I wonder what the effects of joining a structured kundalini yoga class will be. Has anyone had experience with this?

Thanks,

Not a big fan of Kundalini Yoga, myself. Take a Hatha yoga class instead. The stretches effectively release karma tension from the body, and you will start to get kriyas where the body teaches you yoga by itself.

I've practiced kriya yoga myself now for over a year. Not sure why, I just feel really attracted to it.  Many kriyas (especially the more advanced ones) are initiated with a visualization or energy movement, but as soon as something happens spontaneously, you go with that instead, as Goddess wills.

As you were asking for someone who had experience with it, I will. :)   Kundalini compels or inspires me to do all sorts of things. Anything from kriya yoga, scoring zombie movies or creating 3d pinup art. I've seriously given up any attempts to judge why I do all of these things and just enjoy it. Later down the road I might be doing something else instead.

I practice kriya yoga right now because it feels incredibly natural for me to do so.  It helps me bring up and surrender karma, and it helps me become very one-pointed. But I also need to note that I've been awakened for over 8 years. In the beginning I had to drop ALL practices, because the focus needs to be entirely on surrender. If you find later down the road that you are inspired to do certain techniques, it might just be what is helpful at the time. Kriya yoga is a lot different from most other kundalini yoga forms though, in that it is done with surrender, and with no attempts at all to control your thoughts while doing it.

Having said that, since you were asking, hatha yoga as Mystress recommends is absolutely wonderful. I'd definitely go with that!
