If you are referring to the hand symbol where the thumb is touching the index finger, it's called a mudra. It's an inner attitude expressed physically, and also affects the nerves and energy pathways.

Touching the thumb with the index finger is often used in meditation, where the palms are usually faced upwards, or down towards the knees.

If you let yourself become still, eyes closed, you may be able to feel a subtle difference inside you. Try resting your hands on your knees, then let your thumbs and index fingers touch for a while. Try to sense if anything happens anywhere, without expectation. Then after a little while, release and sense if anything changes again.

It creates a closed circuit, so that energy that would normally escape through your fingertips is redirected back inside, this is conductive for meditation, which is why you so often see this in images of people meditating.

There are many other mudras too, some involving other parts of the body, but hand mudras are the most common ones.

I hope this helps a little!

The short answer is, I made that art out of a photo of a Tibetan doorknob. I may have reversed the image horizontally... the image is of a left hand where it would usually be a right hand.

As Gustaf said, it is a mudra. I have never made a particular study of mudras but students report seeing me use a lot of them in my FST videos. Goddess does it.

This one has various interpretations, one being that it represents home, or the starting place. More often it is a gesture representing discussion, teaching or transmission of the Dharma, the buddha's teachings... which would be part of why it links to my appointments page.  I have retired from public session work, so I will probably reset it to link to this forum instead. :)

In the western world, it means "OK!" :)  Seeing it in a vision, either it is a message or a suggestion. Try using the mudra as Gustaf suggests.

   Blessings...
