Apathy; detachment, the Witness state.
One phase of Kundalini involves an extended lapse into the Witness state. This is an extremely peaceful, beneficial experience but many people are confused by it and mistake it for depression, listlessness and apathy.
Peace is not appreciated, for what it is. Those of us of the television generations, seem to learn that life is supposed to be full of drama, a cliffhanger every hour. So when we fall into the Witness phase of peace and detachment, it is assumed that somehting is very wrong! In fact, everything is unfolding as it should.
Generally, this visit to the Witness is to faciliate your karmic release. It serves to anaestetise you from pain that is being released, and also to detach you from emotional reactions that would be resistance to the release unfolding. It is a state of detachment from concern about outcomes, but it is sometimes mistaken for apathy.
As with all phases of Kundalini unfolding, it eventually passes, and you come out the other side into a sort of laughing buddha state, enjoying the cosmic joke; the folly and beauty of the human experience.
